Thanks to everyone who joined us for the special event today at G.B. Russo & Son! Below, find Neal Dionne’s special baked ziti recipe. Save the image or copy and paste the recipe below:

  • 2 jars G.B. Russo pasta sauce
  • 1 can of San Marzano diced tomatoes
  • 1 lb ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmigiano reggiano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 lb of ziti (cooked)
  • 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup basil
  • 5 or 6 Villa Russo Italian sausages, browned (casing removed) cooked with:
    • 4 cloves of garlic, crushed
    • 1 sweet onion, caramelized
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped

Directions: Cook pasta according to package directions: drain and place in large skillet. Add diced tomatoes and 1 jar of sauce: heat through and mix with sausage. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, one cup mozzarella, half of the parmigiano reggiano, half of the basil, and parsley. When mixed, add to the hot drained pasta and and toss. In a large baking dish, pour the other jar of sauce and distribute evenly until the bottom is covered. Add the cheesy pasta mixture in an even layer and top with sausage and sauce mixture. Bake 20 minutes, covered, at 350º. Uncover and top with remaining mozzarella and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is golden brown. Top with basil and serve. Buon Appetito!
