High Quality Old Vine Monastrell – Under $15

Last year, we were able to secure a small amount of the Tarima Hill Old Vine Monastrell, and quickly sold out.  This small production red from Alicante, Spain is known for producing outstanding wines yet the co-op that makes this wine, Bodegas Volver, keeps the price very reasonable.  Monastrell (the grape variety that the French call Mourvedre) produces full-bodied wines with a blackberry and plum fruit character and has a mix of licorice and subtle spice flavors on the long, pleasing finish.  We just received our allocation of the 2011 Tarima Hill Old Vine Monastrell ($13.99 91 points Wine Advocate) and it is another winner.  If you would like to reserve a case of Tarima Hill at the special price of $150, please contact me at

Bell’s Hopslam

$15.99/6pk or $60/Case

($10; a 50/50 blend of tempranillo and graciano, raised

completely in stainless steel) Vivid ruby. Dark berry and cherry

aromas, with hints of licorice and black pepper. Deeply pitched

blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors show a serious side and are

lifted by tangy acidity. Dense but not heavy, with good

finishing clarity and spicy cut. Give this a brief

decanting if you open it any time soon.
